Final destination is a euphemism for death. My flight captain just wished me safe travel there.
I write from Logan Int’l in Boston on the phone. It’s boring waiting for the silly flight. I am anxious to be home. SBL was worth the trip. It stimulated the exegetical mind. No matter how you try, six AM to midnight gets old, especially after the blizzard-ridden sixteen hour drive out. Only my wallet regrets flying back. I hope to write some reactions but family and the holiday will take priority.
One hour to boarding. Time for a nap.
Anne and the kids are at the sister-in-law, waiting for my sister to go into labor. I leave the Fort tomorrow for the Society of Biblical Literature annual meeting in Boston. A couple of us are attending, in addition to five or so faculty. Its a big conference with hundreds of papers presented. I’ll be flying back to Fort Wayne on Tuesday.
I’m going computer-silent, except carrying the little pocket Mac (iPhone.) I suppose that means I won’t be silent at all. Don’t expect any liveblogging from the conference; I can’t type fast enough on the iPhone.
This definitely encapsulates lectures sometimes… thankfully rare at the seminary but it happens all the same…

Concordian Sisters of Perpetual Parturition: What the blogger owes her husband
One of our readers recently emailed to ask if we would include a post specific to the trials faced by pastors’ wives. While we are neither in the habit of taking requests nor experts of anything, this particular topic has been on my mind much of late and I was planning to hold forth on it anyway. I find myself in need of much discipline and many pep talks when pregnant. PS- This post is really, really long. So. You know.
Ethan is singing this year in the homeschool choir, organized by one of our kantors on campus. He’s enjoying it immensely. Last Thursday they sang for the first time this year, leading us in the psalm and also offering a choral response to the reading. Take a listen:

A couple curious family types noticed they weren’t getting emails from the blog. Anyone dependent on this feature has missed the posts since 10/26. I urge you to visit the blog directly and catch up.
