Issues, etc. CANCELLED!
Today’s a black day in the LCMS.
Today the Synod ordered the cancellation of the popular radio show Issues, Etc. without stating a reason why, and terminated the employment of Pastor Todd Wilken, the show’s host, and Mr. Jeff Schwarz, the show’s producer.
If you can get into the archives and save MP3 files of the show ASAP.
The person who made the decision to cancel Issues, Etc. was Mr. David Strand, Executive Director of the Board for Communication Services.

Please call or email and encourage the Board to reinstate the program. If you don’t listen to it, you really should have.
I suggest something like this which I sent:
Rev. Strand,
I was disappointed to hear that the phenomenal program “Issues Etc.” was cancelled. This program was essential in encouraging my entrance into the seminary. As well it has provided essential catechesis in view of increasing synergism in the American Christian scene. No other program is out there that compete in timeliness and doctrinal integrity. No other media entity within our synod apart from CPH provides the sort of teaching our church so desperately needs. Please reinstate the program. Listeners need to hear the Law and Gospel preached in truth and purity over the airwaves and the internet.

Meanwhile, an online petition has been started up about Issues, Etc. being ended. I don’t know how much good it will do, but it should be able to do some. it certainly can’t hurt to put your name down. Here’s the link:

Finally, financial help for the Schwarz and Wilken families can be sent to the following address. Just put in the memo line that it’s for the “Schwartz/Wilken Fundâ€. The Schwarzes especially need the help and Rev. Jack Schwarz’s wife Beth has been recently diagnosed with small fiber neuropathy and they need to go to Mayo Clinic to try figuring out what can be done.
