Weekend Warrior: Flower-Q
I’ve been lusting after a smoker every since we got Food Network. Bobby Flay, Alton Brown, and the barbeque shows inspired me. Well, today I tackled the project, following the DIY ceramic smoker from “Good Eats.”
The Little Green Egg commercial smokers cost $800 plus. We put ours together for less than $50.
We did some cheap steaks from the freezer and a roast we got from someone here. I didn’t check them during my nap so they got a bit dry on the outside. I think the consensus was that it was tasty. We ate nearly three pounds as a family with corn on the cob, pickles, and ice cream. (The corn is coming out of our ears!) Ah! the smell of hickory smoke still permeates!

Maybe one of these is a present for Dad? According to Alton, we could just start it and leave it alone for awhile, right?

If you want real BBQ, this is the way to go. I learned a bit from making this one. Rev. 2 would be even better!
