YouTube – Stewart and Colbert on the emmys
Okay, admittedly I’m no John Stewart fan… but this Stephen Colbert guy plays a great straight man. Now… Does this video offend?
Alright… there might be some mockery there. Or is it just parity? Is there an element of truth masked by comedy? Does it really matter?
Well, Minister Phelps thinks so. He posted this clip in response:
I don’t know about you but Colbert’s comedy was far less offensive than Phelp’s “God Hates Fags” signs. Are Christians too accommodating to the secular world’s mockery? Should we be more offended and react say as a Muslim might to a mocking of their belief?
Phelps isn’t converting with his diatribe. He’s garnering support from those who agree with him. I didn’t hear a predominance of Gospel in his video rant, did you?

It seems to me that Phelps does a little more than diatribe. In fact, it seems evident from this video that Phelps geuinely does hate homosexuals. So it would seem that he violates the Fifth Commandment to decry violations of the Sixth.
There definitely is an absence of Gospel. No love for those “fags.” Ouch. How can he say such things? He who is without sin…
I’m all for calling sin what it is… but it seems his purpose is to convict without offering redemption.
