Cranach – Who does what in worship?
Two more excellent and thorough posts in regards to the Lutheran theology of worship. This continuing discussion needs to be voiced.
Too many people think that church is something we created. Or for that matter something the apostles or Peter himself created and instituted. This circumvents God’s authority and his intention. The Church predates creation. God INTENDED for us to have the church. He planned and gave us the means of grace for reason and purpose. We fulfill his purpose when we obey his commands. Where we fail, he forgives. We continue to try, try, and try again.
In matters where there is freedom including music styles, making the sign of the cross, or church design we use our best judgment with scripture as our guide. If we fail to consider God’s Word in EVERY aspect, for some member the service will be a distraction and draw attention to each other and not return to God what is God’s.
